Before the realities of the housing market became apparent to me, I always dreamt of living in a little pink house in Notting Hill, complete with a little pink car. I'd wake up, put on a little pink dress and make my way to Portobello Road.

Flower baskets, rainbow houses and vintage shops fall into the background on market days. Stuffed with people, tat and some genuinely great food finds- Portobello Market is not one to be missed. Wander a little further, and you'll bump into Acklam Village, bursting at the seams with global street food.

Acklam Village:

Street Food Market

Address: Acklam Rd, London W10 5TY- Just off Portobello Road

Opening Times: 11am-7pm Saturdays & Sundays

Travel Links: Ladbroke Grove, Notting Hill Gate and Westbourne Grove tubes, all within walking distance.

Nestled away off Portobello Road, Acklam Village is a hidden gem of Notting Hill. It boasts a long list of global street food: Afghan, African, American, Chinese, Cuban, English, French, Greek, Moroccan, Mexican, Palestinian, Peruvian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Venezuelan- the list goes on and the choice is yours. Good luck, is all I can say. We found ourselves deliberating in the market labyrinth for what seemed like hours, our bellies turning into our own personal minotaurs. It all just looked, and smelled, oh so wonderful.

Alex had Seafood Paella from Simply Paella.

Spanish cuisine. Prawns, peas, mussels, calamari, the works. Massive portion-size. £7.

I chose (finally) Chorizo Grilled Cheese from The Bonobo- Grilled Cheese.

American cuisine. Chorizo, sweet chilli jam, rocket and a lot of cheese. Massive as well. £7.

There are also a few London Mews off Portobello Road, that you might like to wander down. Keep the fantasy alive- you never know, one day you might actually live there to tumble out of bed around midday, lean out your window and breath in the scent of delicious street food. Until then, I'll be making regular visits.

Happy exploring! x
