Both Central London 4 star brunch places get my review.
Feya
Trip Advisor Review: 4 stars
After seeing this cafe all over Instagram, I just had to try it. The restaurant's description reads:
"Marble elements, comfy plush pink chairs, blossoms and butterflies that lead you into the café, Feya is a one of its kind pretty pastel haven…"
Admittedly, it did look perfect. Located just off Oxford Street, everything about this cafe was pretty.
A queue was forming, so we chose to sit a bit nippy outside. Instagram has won this little cafe a stream of tourists, so either be prepared to sit outside or go at an odd time to avoid the crowds.
When the food arrived, it was as if my Instagram feed had come to life. Hashtag, no filter needed.
What we had:
Pastel Rainbow Smoothie Bowl (Vegan + GF): Two coloured smoothie bowl with Pineapple, Banana, Spirulina, Pitaya and Coconut Milk. Topped with Nutty Granola, Banana, Mango & Edible Flowers. £9.20.
Milk Hot Chocolate: £4.80.
Lychee Rose: £4.80.
I was so excited to try this rainbow-inspired dish, but upon the first taste I was seriously disappointed. Despite each side being a different colour, they tasted exactly the same- of lukewarm ready-brek. Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing, because the avocado toast and cakes did look great. But for me, it felt like style over substance- especially at the price they were charging.
Alex found his hot chocolate too bitter and grainy. I loved my drink, however, as I am a huge fan of delicate rose flavours.
If you want something to spice up your Instagram feed then this is certainly the place to go, but if you want great food you might want to head somewhere else.

Trip Advisor Review: 4 stars
We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident, after another that we were headed to was randomly closed for redecorating. This might have possibly been the best food fate written in the stars.
Located just off Regent Street, we took a few pictures before eating. We didn't realise until seeing the many stacked 'Simple' books in the entrance that this was one of the restaurants of Ottolenghi.
A waitress took our coats and seated us in the sleek yet cosy restaurant. The menu was surprising, which I was grateful for- there's only so many times you can order scrambled eggs and bacon before you decide to just make it for yourself at home. Yet nothing was too unfamiliar, just little delicious twists added to every dish to make it unique.
What we had:
Shakshuka (braised eggs, piquante tomato sauce, smoked labneh). £12.10.
French toast, star anise sugar, berry compote, orange yoghurt. £10.50.
Hot Chocolate. £3.50.
It was genuinely the best brunch I have ever had. The bread was fresh, everything was so flavourful and it was such a pleasant experience. Things we didn't end up ordering from the menu sounded so tempting (Grilled Mastelo cheese, fried egg, pita bread, za’atar or the Black rice, coconut milk, banana, mango), they have left us wanting to make a return.
