Exam week. Need I say more. Baking this is a soothing source of procrastination. Eating this is all the chocolate-pear comfort you'll need.

Ingredients:

  • 50g melted butter

  • 20g cocoa

  • 200g dark chocolate

  • 200g butter

  • 200g golden caster sugar

  • 4 eggs and 4 egg yolks

  • 200g plain flour

  • 3 pears, peeled, cored and quartered

  • Vanilla ice-cream (to serve)

Recipe:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C.

  2. Make a paste with the 50g melted butter and cocoa powder. Spread in the dish. Place dish in the fridge until needed.

  3. Melt the 200g butter and chocolate in the microwave in 30 sec bursts until melted and combined.

  4. Whisk the eggs and sugar in a separate bowl until thick and white. Add the flour and beat in.

  5. Beat in the cooled chocolate mixture gradually.

  6. Pour cake batter into the dish. Place the pears evenly on top.

  7. Bake for 10-15 mins until the sides are coming away from the dish. It should wobble and be liquid in the centre. Serve hot with ice cream.

This tray bake peaked everyones interest... including Bonnie's. (No chocolate was fed to dogs in the process of this bake!)

From one stressed-out chocoholic to another, enjoy! x
